This is my second Garmin 260W. I use it for business. My wife is always borrowing mine for shopping. So I got another one and gave her the first one that had all her favorite shopping places on file.
My only complaint - and this would be true of any GPS - is that you can get a city update but not a state or county up date. I guess that the states don't update their own systems when a new road or shopping center is built.

I'm quite satisfied with the device itself. I have a couple of trips under my belt now and haven't got lost yet. Found a few restaurants and gas when needed so it works fine.
The USB cable to attach the unit to a PC was not included with the 260W and is required to register the unit and update the internal OS software as well as the map updates. I called Garmin to see if I could register the unit on the phone and was told no you have to buy the cable to register. What a great way to make your customers "rip off" alerts start going off..
You can go the website to download map updates but unless you are registered which you can't do without the cable you get nowhere.
It just seems like a sleazy way to make you buy an accessory that is necessary to register the product especially since USB cables are so cheap these days. I got a cable for $5 from Ebay no problem. I would not buy it from the manufacturer at inflated prices on principal, all I'm saying is, if it's necessary include it in the box. The 260w is a compact GPS unit, easily readable, with clear graphics. It mounts to the windshield via a suction cup attached to a mounting apparatus. This allows for easy pivoting of the unit, and it seems to be perfectly designed for positioning so that the driver and passenger can view it easily. I live on a gravel road, and the 260w accurately shows every curve and straight section on it, to my surprise. The user interface is extremely intuitive...one could immediately throw away the manual and have no problem using it. This is simply an excellent product and the price through Amazon was very good. That makes for exceptional value.

The wider screen is a definite advantage, and the optional "bean bag" mount for the dash works well. There are a very wide range of voice options (accents, level of detail) but aside from that this is extremely easy to use and intuitive. I bought it for my wife and she has been enchanted with it--and greatly relieved at how easy it is to use. I remain (or hope I remain) #1 in her heart but it is clearly now because I was thoughtful enough to introduce her to her new best buddy.

I found the 260 W to be everything I was hoping for and use it regualarly in my real estate business. No more quessing where a property is.
